Duty Officer Rotations

• Dispatchers are asked to contact the Duty Officer at the beginning of shift to confirm that the squad is in operation.

Vaccinations
FREE hepatitis and meningitis vaccinations are available for active squad members. Please contact Captain Mazlish at info@JEVAC.org if interested. There will be three stacked shots. The third shot will be in March 2006. If you cannot make those dates, other arrangements are possible.

Operations Reminders
  • Check out sheets for the ambulance and equipment are to be completed at the beginning of each shift.
  • Please empty the trash from the ambulance at the end of each shift.

Fund Drive
  • 15,000 envelopes were stuffed and labeled by the FEGS group at the Samuel Field Y for the Annual Building Fund Drive mailing. Approximately 12,000 letters were mailed in December 2005. So far, approximately $14,000 has been collected so far.

Grants
  • $33,680 US Government Assistance to Firefighters [and EMS] Grant to the squad was announced 8/19/05. Funds will be used for EMS equipment, PPE and Wellness and Fitness programs.
  • Application for $2,000 grant secured by NYS Assemblyman Mark Weprin has been completed ahead of schedule and sent in.

Ambulance Maintenance
JAM-6: Fully operational.
JAM-7: Still not operational yet.

In Memoriam
It is with great sadness to report the passing of Mollie Lemberger on February 1, 2006. Molly was a member of Forest Hills VAC for over 30 years. Her funeral was held on February 3, at Parkside Memorial Chapel on Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, and was attended by Captain Daryl Mazlish, as well as members of Fiest Hills VAC and Corona Vac. Molly was not a riding member but was active as an administrative associate with Forest Hills VAC.

  • Accelerated CFR Basic class aimed at Youth Squad members may be offered by the West Queens EMT Institute at the start of summer 2006 if there is enough interest. It would run weekdays for 2 to 3 weeks with the NY State test held June 15, 2006 or August 17, 2006.
