  • Please empty the trash from the ambulance at the end of each shift.

Department of Health Audit Is In September
If you have not turned in your updated Medical Clearance form, you will not be able to participate in ANY squad activities after August 31.

CPR Training
Last class held was on July 26.
The new American Heart Protocols (“2005 Protocols”) are out. As per orders from the NY State Dept of Health, all riding members must be updated to the new protocols.
Sign up sheets for classes will be in the dispatch area. The classes are free to members and associates.
Included in the Protocol Updates are changes to the following:
  • What constitutes an adult versus a child
  • Hand position
  • Changes to blind finger sweeps
  • Compression sequence changes (30:2 versus 15:2)
  • Infant CPR
  • Procedures for witnessed arrest and drowning victims
  • AED procedures
  • Recovery position

  • Saturday, August 15th, the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene will be hosting a Point of Dispensing (POD) exercise and are seeking individuals to volunteer to participate in this exercise as “patients”.
    The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is seeking patients for a Point of Dispensing (POD) Emergency Response Exercise on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM. A POD is a mass dispensing site opened for the distribution of antibiotics or other medications in response to a public health emergency or outbreak. For this exercise, a single POD will be opened in Manhattan to simulate dispensing of antibiotics following a widespread anthrax exposure in NYC to volunteer "patients."

    Eligibility: To participate in this exercise, volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Saturday September 12, 2009 - The annual LaGuardia Airport disaster drill at 10:00 am. As with every year EMS will play an important role in the patient triage and transport aspect of this exercise. Watch for more details to follow.
  • October 15 – 18, 2009: “Vital Signs 2009” in Rochester, NY. Check out website at www.vitalsignsconference.com for details on the EMS conference.
